The Lower East Side
Eclectic reaches its extreme point in the lower east side. Chinese laundries sit side by side with underwear stores which sit next to chic bars and sushi lounges.
To get there, take the 5 to Houston/Bleeker, and walk east past Allen. Go south at Orchard or Ludlow or both.
Make sure you stop at Katz's for pastrami and at the Sunshine movie theater for a movie, two of New York's finest institutions.
